about

so I've been in a huge creative rut lately and I figured hey why not do something short and spontaneous

and I'd just made a tumblr post earlier about wanting to call one of my releases the incredibly useless name that this thing is titled, so I thought "oh I got it, I'll do an ep of short song sketches or something" and here we are

I may do shit like this from time to time, expect future releases of this nature to be a biiiiiiiit more polished

Track Name: with apologies to john darnielle
When a man hath no freedom to fight for at home,
Let him combat for that of his neighbours;
Let him think of the glories of Greece and of Rome,
And get knock'd on the head for his labours,

To do good to mankind is the chivalrous plan,
And is always as nobly requited;
Then battle for freedom wherever you can,
And, if not shot or hang'd, you'll get knighted.
Track Name: horn & ivory (acoustic)
I dreamt that I was in the way
of progress, of the day to day
and while I looked the other way
I longed to be what is

I lied ‘cause it was easier
than trying to make a change, so sure
I might have weaponized the cure
I drowned in shallow pools

did you feel me on yr face when you were gone
do I need to be replaced

‘cause you are horn and I am ivory
and I don’t deserve your sympathy
save some face, that’s yr philosophy
leave this mess of lies and irony

I like it when I get fucked up
I recognize yr time is up
and everything is looking up
except I’m always falling up

this conversation’s made of shit
it’s hazy since the accident
I wish you’d read me what you sent
it might sound better that way

it’d be nice if I could get up from this bed
rip these arrows from my arms

‘cause you are horn and I am ivory
and I don’t deserve your sympathy
save some face, that’s yr philosophy
leave this mess of lies and irony
